Lars Mikkelsen-1Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen was born 6 May 1964. He has played Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock) in the third series of Sherlock, as well as Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. He was awarded the Reumert Prize of Honour in 2011. At 27 years old when he began his studies, he was accepted into the National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated from the institution in 1995. In addition to his role in the drama series released internationally as The Killing, after that, he appeared in two other internationally popular Danish dramas, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He was also a key role in an episode on BBC drama Sherlock where he played the blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American television show House of Cards he played the President of Russia. In 2018, he received an International Emmy Award. His performance in the Danish television drama Herrens Veje earned him an International Emmy Award. The show was broadcast in the UK in the year 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm.
