Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon was born on the 22nd of March, 1976. She has been the recipient of numerous awards which include an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award as well as an Emmy Award, Primetime Emmy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards, she has consistently ranked as one of the highest-paid actors in the world. Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2006 and in 2015, and Forbes named her one of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women in 2019 and 2021. Forbes named her the most successful actress in the world in 2021. Her net worth is believed to be $400 million. Witherspoon first appeared on screen in the year 1991 as an teen. Her breakout came in 1999, with the role of a supporting actress in Cruel Intentions, and for her performance as Tracy Flick in the black comedy Election. She gained wider recognition for portraying Elle Woods in the comedy Legally Blonde (2001) and its sequel in 2003, and for her role in the romantic comedy Sweet Home Alabama (2002). In 2005, she earned critical acclaim and won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. Following a decline in her career, with her only box-office success was Water for Elephants (2011). Witherspoon returned to the screen in the form of a producer and played in Wild (2014). She has since primarily worked on television, producing and starring in several women-led literary adaptations produced by her company Hello Sunshine.
