Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his home with community service. The first time, he was brought up by Lucious and Jessie Selmon, on the farm close to Eufala located in Oklahoma as the youngest of their nine children. He was also one of three siblings who represented Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi award as the best lineman in the country. For three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. They also won two national championships. In 1975, the National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in the year 1975. Selmon received a degree in Education. Lee Roy's fourth service included ten hours per week in volunteer work during college. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers for nine seasons before becoming an all-pro. He also began an entrepreneurial career. By 1988 he had become an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top ten outstanding young people across the country. When he was a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighs a little over 256 lbs. He captained his college team in 1975. He joined University of South Florida in 1993 as the associate director of sports. Selmon has been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor who presented this award.
